News: Herculaneum Scroll Digitally Unwrapped

There is always something new happening in the world of Pompeii, and the team at Vesuvius Challenge have hit a major milestone: a carbonised scroll from Herculaneum has been digitally unravelled and read for the first time!

Vesuvius Challenge is a machine learning and computer vision competition, offering prizes to anyone who can contribute towards digitally unwrapping scrolls from the carbonised library of Herculaneum. PHerc. 1667, also known as Scroll 4, is now readable. It is a Stoic work from the 2nd century BC.
